Today we're going to be making Oobleck with cornstarch and water. Whoa. First, ask a grownup for help. Which is me. Alright, so first we need one and a half cup of cornstarch. Okay, Ryan, open it up. Let's start pouring it in here. Good, more, more, more. Do you see the line where it says one and a half? Ryan, too much! This is why you need a help from a grownup. It's okay. It's going to get a bit messy a little bit. You tell me when, okay Ryan? Stop. Stop? Okay. Oh, that's more than half. Now, pour this in here. Whoa. So already getting messy. For me, I'm going to do the same thing. It kind of looks like flour. And you know never to eat anything when you do an experiment. Next, measure out one cup of water. I'm going to use green and daddy's going to use blue. Alright, that's my favorite color. Okay, so probably three drops is enough, Ryan. Yeah. If you do too much, it's going to be too dark. One, two, three. I think that's good. Alright. One. Oh! That's good. Just stir it. Oh, these are big. Whoa, look at that. Mine's definitely blue color. How's yours going? Oh, nice. Mine's green. Next, put the water into your cornstarch. Whoa. Whoa! Looking cool. Whoa! The color came out nice. It's like a volcano. Alright, I like it. Alright, now we got to mix it up. Start! Whoa. Whoa. It's gooey. I love the color of mine. It came out really cool. Mine, it looks like soup. It looks like slime. Yours look like a slime color. Yeah. Oh, it splashed on me. If you guys like messes, you should definitely make Oobleck. But don't make a mess intentionally. Don't do that on purpose. All dissolved. I don't feel anything anymore. It's all liquid. I feel so much. This is why you need help from a grownup. Whoa. Whoa. Ooh. Look at this. Big chunk. If it's too liquidy, you can add more cornstarch. I think my mine needs a little bit more. No. So guys, I have a question for you. What? Is this Oobleck, is it a solid or is it a liquid? It's both. Why do you think it's both? Because when you stay still in it, it like sinks you down. And whenever you hit it, it's a solid. So it's like invincible. Oh, I don't think it's invincible, but yeah, it feels like it has both properties. Like this is like, look, it feels like solid, right? But then, see, it moves like liquid. Yeah. So I want you to pick up some and put it and squeeze it between your hands. Is it hard or soft? It's hard. Yeah, when you put it in your hand, it feels hard like a solid. I'm making a ball, all right? I'm making a ball. Let go, let go. So it's a solid, but if you... What happened when you let go? It's a liquid. Yeah. It's so confused. Which one is it? Alright, you try, Ryan. It's both, obviously. A seven-year-old is teaching me. You try, you pick up a whole bunch and then just squeeze it. Don't leave any space. Does it feel like a solid or a liquid? Solid. Yeah, but if you let go... What happened? It becomes a liquid. Yeah. So it's not your typical solid liquid, right? So if I want to keep it solid, I have to keep hold... I have to do this forever. It's melting. I'm getting mad. Yeah, so this is really cool. This is actually called a non-Newtonian liquid. Huh? Non-Newtonian liquid. That's what it's called. What is Newtonian? Newtonian after Sir Isaac Newton. It's not a typical definition of a solid, liquid and gas. It's a solid or liquid and it changes its property based on pressure. So if you apply pressure, it behaves differently. Mommy, you try to punch it. Okay. Mommy's going to try to punch. Let's see. One, two, three. Whoa! I know. That's super hard like concrete. That's so fun. Whoa, look at Ryan. If you let go, it just drops down. Looks like slime, huh? Oh, yeah. Oh, it's melting. Wow. What flavor would that be? Matcha flavor? Maybe a rocky road. You can make your Oobleck even more exciting with adding glitter! Wow! Which one, which one? There are two kinds. I want to do the bigger one. Okay, I'll get the purple one. Glitter! Whoa, that's a lot. Enough, Ryan. Shiny. Oh, how am I going to mix the... Oh! Glitter! It's on your hand now. This is the only way I can mix it. So Ryan's added way too much glitter. Alright, I'll do it right. I need a lot more. I need a lot of glitter. Wow, look at that. I like it. The only thing is hard to mix. Whoa. But if you, if you leave it like this, it's actually hard to get out. Oh. So cool. Okay guys, so that's how you make Oobleck.
