Three, two, one. Oh my god! When I was a kid, I had a globe on my desk. And I used to love spinning it. Close my eyes, point my finger somewhere random, and then open them up to see where I landed. Letting my imagination run free about what that country would be like and if I'd ever get to visit it. And the answer was almost always that I'd probably never get to. But 15 years have passed and I've realized how life-changing of an experience seeing other parts of the world and experiencing new cultures truly is. So today, to leave it up to chance and throw ourselves into an unknown country, we've decided to live out this childhood fantasy. To make this spin more specific, we've decided to rely on Google Maps's I'm Feeling Lucky feature, which spins the globe and truly sends you somewhere random, but also somewhere very specific, unlike a finger on a globe would. Matt and I are the ones going on this adventure because Ammar's Egyptian passport requires him to have a visa for most countries, so unfortunately, a last-minute trip is impossible for him. And given that Matt hasn't been able to travel for months because of his Ironman training, the hype to go on this trip was high. The moment has come! Thomas and I are going to spin the globe and go wherever it lands. Oh my god. This is the ultimate, I feel like, travel dream. Just fully chance decide where you go anywhere in the world. You know when you're a kid, you dream of doing that? Like now we're actually going to get to fly there. Let's do it. All right. Oh my god! I am feeling lucky right here. Whoa! The power is in the hands. Wait, so we're only doing one click and then we just fly there? I think so, my friend. I think so. Oh boy. This is actually shockingly nerve-wracking. Three, two, one. Oh my god! Yes! Australia is so far, man. We're going to the Great Barrier Reef. We've never been. No, I know. We've never wanted to go forever. I know, I'm aware. I'm aware. This is like a dream of mine. I've wanted to go so bad to Australia. Oh, this is going to be so fun! Yes! Yes! Yes! This could have literally sent us anywhere. And we're ending up in freaking Australia. Time to reveal to the boys where we're going. I have an exciting announcement to make. We will be leaving town. Oh, thank God. So funny. We are going to the Great Barrier Reef. Hey! The heartland. Wow. So, but you're going to love it. Cam, what do we have to expect? Wild animals, crocodiles, spiders the size of your face. We are booking the flights to Brisbane right now and here is a little secret for all you people who want to travel. We have a website, yestheory.com. On that website, there is a tab called Book an Adventure. If you click this, it is freaking crazy what it does. We are saving $400 because our friend Guillaume, who's a travel hacker, set up this plugin on our website to find the cheapest flights. I have not found anything cheaper than what is on yestheory.com. Where are we going? We're going to one of the most incredible places on the freaking planet. But to make this more interesting, we've added a twist to it, but we'll explain at the airport. Vamos! It says Brisbane. I still can't believe it. Thank you. Thank you. We have decided that once we arrive in Brisbane, it's a two-and-a-half-hour flight to get to the actual Great Barrier Reef. We are going to find two very, very lucky strangers who have never been to the Great Barrier Reef and who are from Australia. And we're going to ask them if they want to join us. If we're going to go to the most iconic place of a certain continent, we've got to take people who have never been who live in that continent. It's always so interesting in these moments. Somebody that's waking up today in Brisbane, Australia, who has no idea that we're about to encounter them and take them on this adventure. Their life is about to go like... completely. All right. We're in the central of the city. Just got real real fast. Yeah. There's like nobody here right now. It's Saturday morning. Hello. I have a quick question. Have you ever been to the Great Barrier Reef by any chance? No, not really. We just got in this morning and we spun a globe to decide where it would take us. So it picked the Great Barrier Reef. We decided that we'd come to Brisbane and find somebody to come with us. That's fun. To join us to the Great Barrier Reef. That's the best idea I've ever heard. I would, but I actually have to meet a friend now. Okay. That was a good first interaction. They're very sweet here. You guys, can I ask you a quick question? We just arrived in LA. We spin the globe in LA. From LA. Sorry, I'm just... We're trying to find two people to come with us from Brisbane to go up to the Great Barrier Reef that have never been there before. We've been there before. Oh, you've been there? Yeah, yeah. Sorry. Thank you guys. Have a good one. We got to find somebody that has never been there before. That's the goal. Should we ask this guy? How's it going, man? Oh, where are you going? Good day, how are you? What are you doing? How's it doing? Luke. Thomas. Nice to meet you, bro. From Los Angeles. We just flew in this morning. Really? Yeah. Fucking hell. You're happy? You liking it? Dude, I mean we've been here for two hours but so far everybody's been so nice. You should get a photo. Aussie traffic controller. Luke, I got a question for you. Yeah. So the reason we're actually here is because we spun a globe through Google's I'm Feeling Lucky and it said the Great Barrier Reef. So we're going to go up to Cairns tonight. Really? Yeah. And we don't want to just go us two because we've done a bunch of these adventures before and each time we bring strangers with us and it's always amazing. So if any chance you'd be down, have you ever been to the Great Barrier Reef? Nah. You've never been? I've been on the go, yeah. Would you be down to come? Yeah, probably. Like... How much is it? Well, we would cover it. Yeah. Fucking why not? How often do you get to travel? Much, never. Do you have like a friend or somebody that you'd want to bring too? Yeah, yeah. Are you guys actually being serious? Yeah, yeah, 100% serious. This is what we do for a living. Oh, really? It's all about peaceful vibes. I'll give you a call when I'm finished. Okay. Sounds good. See ya, boys. See ya. What? What just happened? He's the perfect yes man. He's like, I'm down. He just doesn't know if we're being serious. Like, no Luke, we're being so serious. We're about to find out what his friend is like. We've literally never met this man. Now we're going on a two-day trip to the Great Barrier Reef together. What's up, dude? Hey guys. Hey dude, man. Travis, nice to meet you, man. What's up, brother? Hey you going, Luke? Nice to meet you, bro. Welcome, dude. Oh my god. You guys ready for this or what? He just called me at work and said, do you want to go to the Great Barrier Reef tomorrow? I was like, what the hell? What are you talking about? I was meant to be at my cousin's birthday. She's like, I told her and she goes, no, don't go, don't go. You're going to get kidnapped. I was like, I was kind of thinking I might, but then I was like, nah. See you soon. All right, let's do this. We're going to Cairns tonight and the Great Barrier Reef tomorrow with these guys. Yeah, I know. Yeah, you there? Yeah, I'm here. Hey. Where are you off to? Go scuba diving with the Great Barrier Reef. Scuba diving? Yeah. Just get in a taxi and come to my house. I'm just near the airport. How did you meet these people? I was at work and they said, do you want to come to the Great Barrier Reef? And I said, yeah, why not? Yeah, buddy! Boarding a flight to Cairns. Let's go. The morning has come. We are officially going to the Great Barrier Reef with these two gentlemen. The boys ready? Hey, right. In line checking in for our tour. In line checking in for our tour. Then we're going diving. Did you answer Joe? Who's Joe? Joe mama! How do you feel, fellas? Hey, how are you going? Oh man, that was so good. Like you don't understand. Like I had the best time of my life ever. I'm taking off my top and I'm going back in. Look at him, mate. With a body like that, why have a shirt? I just want to thank you and Tomo for bringing us out here and doing something me and Luke would have never done before if it wasn't for you. Thanks for coming, dude. Thanks for paying, man. I was broke as before coming here. Like nearly zero in my bank account. But I'll come. Same as him too. Yeah. You guys are two of the happiest fellas I've ever met, so. Yeah, we stay pretty positive. Give off positive energy, positive energy comes back to you. That's what Luke believes anyway. It's obviously worked for him. Look at him. Hey going, mate? Nice to meet you, Luke. Cheers. The next day, as we were getting ready to head out to the reef, Luke decided to tell us a bit about his past. All right, Luke, we're ready to hear it. Um, hey going. My name's Luke. I had a skateboarding accident in 2013. I was going down a hill, you know what I mean, no helmet on. I fell off and hit my head. I ended up in a coma for five weeks and in a hospital for six and a half months. I was given a 3% chance to live. They said if I woke up from my coma, I was going to be completely brain dead and in a wheelchair for the rest of my life. My family was coming up to say... They were coming up to say bye to me when I woke up, when I woke up. Um, yeah, I get emotional, sorry. The three side effects from the injury is I have short-term memory, which is when you forget the stuff you did like the day before yesterday. I lost my sense of smell because I hit it in that spot. I hit my right side of my head so it damages the left side of your body. So my left arm is damaged and my leg is damaged. I can move it but it's getting better. It used to be all the way up there. So I'm always positive about things. Do you remember anything before the accident? No, I lost complete memory. Like it was wiped. Like when I was in the hospital, I had a heart monitor on. When my family members and my friends would come in, it was going like that. Like it would just go straight. And then as soon as they come in, it would go like it would go up. That's why I'm here. Because I had so much support like around me, like all my family and friends. My dad would come up every day to the Gold Coast, same with my family. Every time I was in the hospital, he would say, don't stop, never give up, get stronger. How did your outlook on life change after? Um, well, it's just I take each day as it comes now. Like I don't I don't worry about anything. I look, I come to the Great Barrier Reef with half an hour's notice. Like, like, you know, like you're never going to get this opportunity again. I'm not one to let opportunities pass up. Thank you so much for sharing, dude. No worries, man. Yeah, I love you, buddy. Yeah, I love you, man. Thank you. When we first arrived in Australia, we truly had no idea what our adventure would look like. We were honestly quite nervous when we start these trips because of that. But then we stumbled onto Luke, having no idea what he'd gone through, which gave us such an eye-opening perspective that we never know what the people we walk past on the street every single day are going through. And that it's so easy to forget that every human we cross is somebody totally different from us dealing with all of their own problems. So next time you pass someone on the street and make eye contact, I think we should all be a little bit more like Luke and give them a smile and a hello. Because at the end of the day, you never know how far that can take you. And before we go, we want to mention that from now on we're going to be offsetting our carbon footprint by donating to Terrapass, which provides funds to green projects like wind farms and landfill gas capture. We also want to take this time to thank our sponsor for helping us make this week's episode happen, SeatGeek, and for potentially giving one of you a free ticket anywhere around the world. SeatGeek is an app that allows you to buy and sell tickets in the easiest way possible by putting all the tickets in one place so you can focus on what matters most, the live experience.
